GWANDA- Edu Foundation Trust, founded by Gwanda local youth has for the first time donated exercise books, pens, rulers ,pencils and uniforms to 10 orphaned and vulnerable pupils at Garanyemba Primary School in ward 19 under Chief Mathe.
The donations were made on Thursday last week where the EduFoundation director, Sikholiwe Sibanda said this was their first donation since the formation of the Trust and are looking forward to reaching out to as many schools as possible as the organization expands.
"We made contributions as a group to come up with these donations however, there are other diasporians who are willing to chip in as long as the organization makes some inroads and this donation will go a long in showing how serious we are,” said Sibanda.
Five boys and five girls who were selected by the SDC and the school administration at Garanyemba received the uniforms and stationery.
Sibanda said the organization is looking forward to starting its educational trips on February 28 this year beginning with Moodspruit Primary in Gwanda South resettlement areas.
"Besides the 10 beneficiaries of our donations we are going to select another class from Moodspruit Primary where they will tour Chipangali National Park, Arenel factory in Bulawayo and Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Airport," said Sibanda.
Ward 13 councilor, Miclas Ndlovu paid tribute to EduFoundation for their support and urged them to continue with the good work which goes a long way in alleviating the plight of the rural pupils
