    Steward Bank employee wins big at interbank athletics

    MASVINGO-Sprinting sensation Mild Nyoni (23) from Masvingo who is employed by Steward Bank as customer care officer won all before at the just ended interbank athletics competitions held at the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) grounds in Harare.
    Nyoni clinched gold medals in the 100m race in 10.1seconds and 200m in 19.98seconds and for his efforts he pocketed R4000 at the RBZ sponsored competitions. There were 30 athletes in the 200m category and 48 in the 100m category. 
    “I am happy to have represented Steward Bank at the competitions, I overcame stiff competition and managed to raise the bank’s flag high’’ said Nyoni.
    Nyoni who has bagged so many medals said he started athletics when he was in grade 7 and his poor background inspired him to want to do better at every competition that he participated in.
    “I grew up from a poor family eating unbalanced diet but that did not deter me rather it inspired me to venture into athletics in order to become a better person in life through sport,” said the soft spoken bullet of the tracks.
    Recently, he participated at the annual South African Children Charity Fund competitions.
    The sprinting sensation was born in Masvingo and went to Burombo Primary in Mucheke and Mashoko High in Bikita where he scooped 10 gold medals in school competitions.
