Rukanda develops realtime accident reporting app

    NKULUMANI MLAMBO

MASVINGO- Former Mirror accountant, Fungai Rukanda has developed a software application called Ebox Travel through her company Tagstrim Pvt Ltd for travellers that makes it easier for the next of kin to know in the event of an accident.
“Due to an increase in the number of accidents in the country where victims can’t be identified or get help quickly I designed an application (Ebox Travel) that enables a traveller to feed the number plates of the vehicle they would be travelling on.
“You also fill in the journey details ie where you are going and coming from and then tag a maximum of three relatives so that in the event of an accident an eyewitness will just fill in the number plate on the report section of the app and the next of kin and emergency service providers are instantly notified via an SMS,” said Rukanda.
Ebox Travel which started operating in October this year is found on Google Playstore and over 100 000 people have registered so far according to Rukanda.
The Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe managing director, Obio Chinyere commended Rukanda for the innovation as it will go long in post-crash assistance to road accident victims.
“For one to register, you just download the app and enter your name, email address, phone number and password,” said Rukanda.
