    Lovemore Zindoga is Mimosa’s 2018 worker of the year

    Thursday December 6 2018 will be a day for Lovemore Zindoga to remember after he scooped the prestigious Mimosa Mining Company Overall Worker of the Year Award.
    Mimosa employs over a thousand workers and for coming first, Zindoga who is an assistant fitter walked away with the worker of the year accolade at the 14th edition of the annual event.
    “I am very happy. This award means a lot to me,” said Zindoga after receiving the award.
    The glamorous function which started at 8pm was graced by the Minister of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing July Moyo with the MP for Zvishavane-Ngezi Constituency Dumizweni Mahwite standing in for the Minister of State for Midlands, Senator Larry Mavhima.
    Mimosa managing director Fungai Makoni said ‘‘ we are happy about this fourth edition of Mimosa Awards, we are here to reward most hard working individuals.’’
     Also acknowledged and rewarded at the event were long-serving workers from 10 years up to 20 years with the 10 years’ service awards given to only six employees who walked away with 100% of their monthly salary alongside an inscribed shield and certificate.
    The 15 years employees received 125% of their monthly salary and those with 20 years got 150% of their monthly salary.
    The Zimbabwe Motor Distributors (ZMD) was adjudged the best contractor in the Safety Healthy and Environment (SHE) and the company walked away with a shield and certificate. Mining North got the most improved department award and got a floating shield and a certificate.
    Norbert Mahari was named the best worker in SHE for 2018 as his team has gone for 7 years without recording an injury and some of his major highlights include stopping a belt extension team from entering into a section after observing electrical cables that had not been isolated which resulted in electricians isolating them to make it conducive for work.
