Heavy rains destroy property at Mupatsi Clinic

MUPATSI – Scores of villagers and some institutions were left counting their losses on Thursday last week when heavy rains accompanied by winds and lighting destroyed property in Chief Neshangwe’s area in Chikomba last week.
Solar panels that used to pump water at Mupatsi Clinic in Ward 26 in Chikomba District were destroyed by the heavy rains, this was confirmed by the councilor of the area Owen Matsika.
Norman Mafukidze from Neshanga area said he lost property worth $600 when his kitchen was struck by lightining. He appealed for assistance from well-wishers.
Luke Matikonda of Matore Village got  roofing sheets blown off from his house.
A Methodist Church building at Chimombe Primary School at Mupatsi Business Centre lost some of its asbestos sheets.
Matsika said the clinic lost two solar panels from a recently commissioned solar driven water pump.
“It is true that we lost two solar panels that are for the water pumping project which is running in ward 26. The water pump is not just serving the clinic but 59 households as well,” said Matsika.
