12 000 bread per day bakery closes in Zvishavane

ZVISHAVANE – A bakery owned by MDC Alliance Senator for Zvishavane Michael Tims, producing 12 000 loaves of bread daily has closed allegedly because Zesa has failed to attend to an electrical fault.
Brian Magwizi who is the bakery manager told The Mirror that ZESA has failed to attend to an electrical fault hence Echo Bakery which is located in Mac Adams Street has shut down.
He also said that Echo Bakery is the biggest supplier of bread in the residential areas of Zvishavane. The bakery also supplied a lot of rural shops, he said.
ZESA loss control manager Onias Mutambirwa told The Mirror that he was not aware of the problem. He said his company was going to look into the matter.
"Our business is severely affected by Zesa’s failure to attend to our electricity problems. We have been calling them but they are not coming. They are even blocking our calls. That’s not fair. Now we have lost clients," said Magwizi.
One of the clients Tinotenda Matipa who had travelled about 40km from Mabasa Shopping Center to order bread at Echo Bakery said that he was dissapointed and his business was going to be affected as he was getting the bread at 80cents. He said the other bread companies were selling their bread at higher prices and people in the rural areas shun them.
