    ZIMASCO guard in court for stealing 150 liters of diesel


    SHURUGWI - AJ&P security guard contracted to guard Muzvondiwa ZIMASCO Chrome Mine in Shurugwi has appeared at the local courts facing charges of stealing 150 litres of diesel.
    He appeared before Shurugwi resident magistrate Sangster Tavengwa and the allegations are that he drained the diesel from a Bell dozer.
    Shingirai Kutukwa (31) who was represented by Mapfumo Mavise of Mapfumo Law Chambers and was sentenced to 420 hours of community service which he will carry out at Chrome Secondary School. Alternatively he will go to prison for 12 months.
    Bertha Bore representing the State said that on October 24 2018, Kutukwa was on duty guarding a Bell dozer being used by the mine to carry out mining activities. He called Munyaradzi Muza and informed him that he was selling diesel at $1 per liter and sold him 50 liters. On October 26 at around 8pm Kutukwa called Muza and asked him to bring 4 by 25 litre containers to collect diesel at the same price of $1 per liter. On this day they drained 100 liters.
    On October 27, 2018 the security manager and Alfred Tiputipu discovered that the parked bell dozer had been drained of 150 liters of diesel.
