CHIREDZI –Residents of Zaka have accused Zaka West MP, Onias Murambiwa of selling fuel on the black market and pirating using his Zanu PF vehicle.
Those who spoke to The Mirror said that selling fuel on the black market and using a party vehicle to pirate in broad day light is unhonourable.
Murambiwa conceeded that he keeps two drums of fuel at home bought using coupons received from Parliament. He however, refuted allegations that he sold the fuel on the black market. He also said he ferries people from his constituency but he said this was free of charge.
“These allegations are coming from people who are jealous of my rise,” said Murambiwa.
Murambiwa was a teacher at Harava Primary School before he was elected into Parliament.
The Mirror witnessed Murambiwa popularly known as MagaMaga loading people at Jerera last weekend using rank marshals. Various people who spoke to The Mirror complained against the behaviour and said it demeaned the status of Parliament.
“What you are seeing is what Murambiwa do on daily basis when he is here. He is also selling fuel to pirate taxis and various vehicles and we wonder why he is acting like that. He is taking advantage of his position as MP to get fuel from filling stations using parliamentary coupons. He should be honourable and stop what he used to do before he went to Parliament” said one Jerera resident identified as Emmanuel Moyo.
“I always carry people from my constituency free of charge with my vehicle. I know it is the work of people who are jealous with me since I am now a legislator. I don’t sell fuel but I use it to do constituency work,” said Murambiwa.
