ZVISHAVANE-Relegated Shabanie FC aka Chinda Boys have vowed to delay bitter rivals FC Platinum championship celebrations when they meet in a potentially explosive Castle Lager Premiership derby at Maglas Stadium in Zvishavane.
“FC Platinum have all the resources at their disposal and good players too, but as Shabanie we have everything to play for in this derby hence we will throw everything to them to come out victorious.
“FC Platinum will not be crowned Premier League champions at our fortress.
We will fight from all angles and this will be my first win in charge of Chinda Boys,” said Alexio Sigion who was bubbling with confidence ahead of the blockbuster derby which usually draws a full house. FC Platinum are on the verge of making history as the first club from outside Harare and Bulawayo to win the Premier League title back to back.
The Zvishavane based side are just a point away from retaining the League title and might land their hands on the trophy on …at their noisy neighbours at Maglas Stadium. Chinda Boys are one of the most supported teams in the League although they are now headed for the unfashionable world of Division One.
In the reverse fixture FC Platinum pumped 4 goals without reply into their hapless neighbours who reeling from financial difficulties which contributed largely to their relegation.
Last year Chinda Boys only collected a point from their moneybags neighbours who went on to lift their firs Premier League title.
In a midweek fixture last week Pure platinum play cruised past cheeky Bulawayo outfit Chicken Inn 2 nil at Mandava Stadium. Goals from Farai Madhanhanga and Rodwell Chinyengetere in the second half were enough for the platinum miners to bag maximum points whilst Shabanie lost 2-0 to Bulawayo Chiefs.
FC Platinum gaffer, Norman Mapeza is not yet in celebratory mood yet as he is still focusing on the remaining matches.
"I will not talk about the League title now when we have three games to go. I will only talk about the title after the last match,” said Mapeza.
