ZVISHAVANE - Runde Rural District Council (RDC) has proposed to build a $200 000 service station as one way of generating money for the local authority.
The money is coming from the proceeds of  Mabula stands sold by Runde to FBC.
Councillors were told last week that there is a deal where FBC bought $3 million worth of stands in Mabula from the local authority 60% of that amount has since been received. It is the 60% that council is now spending and investing.
Council chair, Mavis Mahuvava called a full council meeting last week where and proposals put forward by the marketing department on what to do with the money were debated.
Full shopping list for the council is that it will construct a service station, staffhouses, service council vehicles, pay compensation, rebuild the boardroom, buy equipment and all this will cost $978 000.
Speaking at the meeting Runde CEO, Golden Moyo said that the projects that are being embarked upon will generate money that will in turn be used to develop the wards. Some councillors had suggested that the money goes towards the development of the wards.
“This is the project plan that we have made. A key project is the construction of a service station in Siboza”, he said.
