    MIRROR REPORTER

GREAT ZIMBABWE HOTEL – The Roman Catholic Church, a cog in Zimbabwe’s Education system has been trying to get a stand to build a school in Victoria Ranch in Masvingo without success.
This came out during hearings of the Commission of Inquiry into the sale of State land in and around urban areas since 2005.
Commissioners told Masvingo Provincial Administrator Fungai Mbetsa that the Catholic Church wanted a stand for a school but they could not get it. The matter was raised by the Commission after concern over the increasing number of private schools in Victoria Ranch that are not only substandard but expensive and out of reach of most parents.
Mbetsa said he had not been in charge of the housing programmes and allocation of land at Victroria Ranch after the concerned Ministries were restructured.
He however, said he has not seen the Roman Catholic application and will be guild to assist of the matter is formally brought to his attention. It was also noted that the Church had another reputable school; Don Bosco in Mucheke in Masvingo.
