Praying on a sacred hill: church leader fined a goat

    TATENDA CHIZU

MASVINGO - Kennedy Chiundo who is a church leader and also a headman has been ordered to pay a goat as fine for holding prayers in a hill that is said to be sacred.
Chiundo is said to have held prayers together with his congregation in the Chikarudzo hills. Chiundo comes from Chiundo Village under Chief Mugabe.
The ruling for him to pay the goat came from the Chief’s council after sitting to hear the case at Chief Mugabe’s traditional court.
The case was confirmed by Chief Mugabe’s secretary Rabson Mungwini Gaba who told The Mirror that Chikarudzo hills are a restricted area because there is a cave where ancestors were buried long ago.
“Churches of apostles are interfering with the dead when they hold theor sessions in the sacred hills. Traditionally the area should be respected and there should be no pieces of clothes that should be left in the hills.
“Chief Mugabe himself caught them and instructed people to take care of the matter and that is when Chiundo was told to come to court”, said Gaba.
