MURAMBINDA – New registry offices are bound to be opened at Murambinda Growth Point in a few months time, Manicaland Provincial Registrar, Joyce Munamati has said.
Munamati disclosed this during a meeting at the Murambinda Boardroom two weeks ago.
Munamati said the development followed an appeal made by Buhera West MP, Saul Dzuma to her offices. Dzuma informed Munamati’s offices that people were travelling fairly long distances; 30km to Buhera office or 20km to Gaza Business Centre to get birth and death certificates.
Dzuma argued that a registry office was critical at Murambinda because that is where Murambinda, the district’s largest referral hospital was. He said that mothers needed to get birth certificates after delivery and the bereaved needed to get death certificates from a Police that is close to the hospital.
Munamati said she has already sent recommendations to Harare   following the presentations by Dzoro and Harare was keen on opening the office.
“We have heard your plea for new registry offices at Murambinda Growth Point which is near the hospital. The Registrar General in Harare has welcomed the idea and has sent me here to to look for a suitable place for the offices. I want to assure you that the offices will be opened as soon as we send our report,” said Munamati.
Meanwhile Manicaland Development Association has already offered a building to house the registry offices.
Present at the meeting was District Registrar Tonderai Man’ono, District Administrator, Freeman Mavhiza, District Medical Officer, Dr Shelton Kwiri and other heads of government departments.
