    Businessman Matsa stand repossessed

     Solomon Matsa

SHURUGWI – Shurugwi Town councilors have flexed their muscles and resolved to repossess a business stand owned by prominent businessman Solomon Matsa.
Matsa is accused of having failed to develop the stands for the last five years. The resolutions were made last Thursday.
The  stand is located near the CBD between Zuva Service Station and Shurugwi town council offices. Council statements indicate that the stand was allocated in 2014.
Matsa who owns one of the biggest hardware stores in Shurugwi, Weldmax is also the owner of King Solomon Hotel in Kwekwe and Matsa Gas.
Matsa told The Mirror that he was contesting the repossession because he has fully paid for the stand. He also said that he was constructing a six-storey building that needed a special foundation and council seemed not to appreciate that.
“I have not been afforded a meeting with council as the owner but they are rushing to write this. I am continuing building as planned and my lawyer is studying the case today since I have also just seen the letter today,” said Matsa.
Council resolutions indicate that he was  served with four different letters on the status of the stand which he allegedly ignored.
The councilors unanimously agreed that if they do not reposses the stand the businessman may go for another five years without any development taking place.
“If we let him operate at this rate, he will go 5 more years without any meaningful development taking place,” said the councilors
Shurugwi town secretary Solomon Siziba confirmed the development. He said that Matsa’s lease has not been renewed in four years.
“Matsa’s lease expired in 2014 and he has not developed anything on the stand,” said Siziba.
