BEITBRIDGE – Takesure Jakarasi of 1402 Industrial Site in Beitbridge who allegedly drove a lorry without a licence,  ran over and killed two pedestrians near Chicken Inn has been remanded in custody to today (November 22, 2018).
He appeared before Magistrate Godswill Mavenge facing culpable homicide charges.
The accident happened on November 8, barely 24 hours after 47 passengers lost their lives in another tragic accident near Rusape.
One of the deceased, Patricia Tizora (39) of Kuwadzana Extension in Harare had her body flattened between the tarred road and the truck's huge wheels while the second victim died on his way to Beitbridge District Hospital.
The accident happened at the Chicken Inn bus terminus and Tizora who is believed to have been coming from Musina was sitting on her bag.
The second victim was a vendor and was crashed after Tizora called him for the boiled eggs that he was selling. Jakarasi was carrying river sand in the lorry and sources said he was involved in the accident after he tried to overtake in the face of oncoming traffic.
The deceased woman's colleagues were buying food at Chicken Inn when she was crashed.
    Oswell Arufandi prosecuted.
