Zanu PF councillor threatens rival gold miner

ZVISHAVANE - Justin Maphosa who is a gold miner and owner of Jukts Mining Syndicate in Honyobwe village under Chief Bvute in Mberengwa has reported a Zanu PF councillor for allegedly threatening him with death.
Maphosa appeared in court on Monday and alleged that Muzeziwa threatened him after he denied him permission to drill a borehole in his claim.
The matter was heard by Zvishavane Magistrate, Shepherd Munjanja on Monday.
Maphosa told the court that his life was in danger since 2016 when he saw Pote Borehole drilling machine in his premises. He approached the drilling crew and they told him that Kufazvinei Muzeziwa had send them to drill the borehole  and Maphosa stopped them immediately.
Muzeziwa who is a councillor and an active member in Zanu PF approached Maposa and told him that he had no authority to stop the drilling of the borehole. He then threatened Maphosa verbally with death stating that he would kill him for disallowing him permission to drill the borehole.
Muzeziwa had to send 3 men who were later on identified as Central Intelligence Officers who went to Maphosa’s residence  and when he saw the men coming he went into hiding. The men produced a firearm to intimidate Maphosa’s workers so that they could reveal his whereabouts.
However in court Muzeziwa said that he was disappointed because he had invested more than $4 000 in that borehole project and he didn’t know that the premises belonged to Maphosa despite the fact that they are neighbours.
He also told the court that Maphosa was just broke and wanted his money because he didn’t have any idea of what Central Intelligence Officers do.
The matter will continue on November 20, 2018 for judgement.
