    Midlands, Masvingo companies win social corporate responsibility awards


    ZVISHAVANE – Various companies from the two provinces of Masvingo and Midlands were gathered in Zvishavane two weeks ago where they received awards for their social corporate responsibility work.
    The awards were organised by Corporate Social Responsibility Network Zimbabwe (CSRNZ), an organisation set up to champion and foster corporate social responsibility work in the country.
    “We are holding these awards because we want more companies to get involved in social corporate responsibility work. We want more companies to plough back into communities,” said Willard Razawo, the chief executive officer of CSRNZ.
    CSRNZ has offices in Harare but Razawo told The Mirror that it would soon be opening offices in Mutare, Bulawayo, Masvingo and Gweru. He said that the Masvingo offices will be opened next year.
    He said the awards were currently being held per region with Masvingo and the Midlands being combined as one region. All the three Matebelaland provinces, Bulawayo, Mat South and Mat North were combined for the purpose of the awards.
    The national awards will be held in Harare on November 15.
    The companies that won in Zvishavane are Runde Rural District Council, Friends of Kyle for excellence in community –conservation.
    Legal Resources Foundation, Masvingo Chicks, Zimbabwe National Planning Family, Zimbabwe Parents of Handicapped Children Association got awards for excellence in community volunteering and partnering with charities.
    The other winners were Reformed Church University, RADAK Investments, Environmental Management Agency Midlands and Masvingo, Plan International Masvingo and Midlands, Masvingo City Lions Club branch, Peace Security, Nice Time, Kwekwe Poly, Dendairy Pvt Ltd, Murowa Diamonds, Nyaradzo Holdings, Tongaat Hulett, FC Platinum Holdings, Pote Holdings and MIMOSA mining company.
     “This is not a competition but we are just encouraging other companies and corporates to start investing in the communities where they draw their labour and customers,” said Razawo.
    Chief Mapanzure who was the guest of honour said that companies should plough back into communities in which they operate in.
