CHIREDZI – There were smiles at Rudo Isimba Old People`s Home in Mapanza, Mkwasine recently as Hippo Valley Lions Club donated 23 mattresses and food hampers worth $1500.
Speaking during the presentation of the donation Hippo Valley Lions Club President Lawrence Mahakwa said charity is the lifeblood of Lions Club International whose agenda is serving the needy in various communities. He also said his organisation will continue to support the home which was left behind by its founder Esnath Stockhil who died earlier this year.
“We identified this home as a charity organisation and had so far provided various things which include drilling of a borehole and supply of medication for chronic diseases as well as regular supplies for food. Charity work is the lifeblood of Lions Club International which is established purely to serve the needy in various communities and we will continue to do that” said Mahakwa.
Rudo Isimba cordinator Abraham Ushe thanked the good hand which is regularly being extended to the home by Lions Club. He appealed for continued assistance since the home which hosts 23 people relies on handouts to feed its inmates.
