MASVINGO-Gutu based Zero One One FC has been suspended from the ZIFA Eastern Region Division 1 after failing to fulfil three consecutive fixtures in the second half of the season.
Patient Dube the Region’s fixtures secretary confirmed the suspension which he said was with immediate effect.
He also said all the teams that were supposed to play Zero One One will be awarded the games on a 3-0 scoreline.
“As for now Zero One One has been suspended already as it exceeded the three mandatory fixtures without showing up as per the rules and regulations of ZIFA.
“They only managed to play a single match after the mid season break,” said Dube.
Dube said Zero One One indicated that they were facing serious financial problems after their sponsor suddenly pulled out for unexplained reasons.
He also indicated that there are plans to increase the teams to 18 from 16 in order to spread the game to all corners of the region.
Meanwhile, moneybags Manica Diamonds are basking in the sun after becoming the first team from Division One to gain promotion into the Castle Lager Premier League without losing a match this season.

“Being promoted to the premier league was our main aim and we have achieved it but that does not mean we have to relax. We have just intensified our play in preparation for 2019 season,” said the self-proclaimed doctor of football Luke ‘Vahombe’ Masomere the Manica Diamonds gaffer.
