BEITBRIDGE - Beitbridge Business Association (BBA) has plans to establish a Centre for Entrepreneurship in the border town that will mentor entrepreneurs to come up with businesses that will have a global reach, BBAco-ordinator Clevers Moyo has said.
Moyo said they are yet to finalize on when the Center will be open. He said that they will start with graduates Entrepreneurship Programs (GEP) targeting male and female youth graduates from University. These will be mentored to put business ideas into practice.
They will be linked with universities, particularly those with Entrepreneurship Programs so that they generate their ideas into programs for the Centre.
“I want to challenge two groups of people, youth graduates and women who are going to train to become entrepreneurs with a global reach. In terms of when we intend to open the Centre, we are still working on that but it will definitely be the first such Centre in Zimbabwe.
“Beitbridge Centre for Entrepreneurship will have programs like Graduate Entrepreneurship Program (GEP) and Prisons Entrepreneurship Programs (PEP). Imagine someone who has been jailed for years and has nowhere to start, that would help them with entrepreneurship ideas,” he said.
The field of entrepreneurship is experiencing incredible growth in developed countries like in USA. In Africa, we have discovered that entrepreneurs are shunned.
“The person who invented ZIPIT is an example of an entrepreneur,” he said.
