BUHERA- A 38-year-old man from Makutya village under Chief Nyashanu hanged himself at his ex-lover’s home and left a note vowing to haunt the later throughout her life.
Majaji Makwite was found hanging at a kitchen at the home of Chipo Makuvi’s parents at Goto Village under Chief Nyashanu on Thursday morning. He left a note blaming his demise on Makuvi who had dumped her after seven years of a relationship.
Makwite committed suicide a day before his appearance in court for violating a protection order taken against him by Makuvi.
Manicaland Police Spokesperson Assistant Inspector Luxson Chananda confirmed the suicide.
Makwite said in his suicide note that he will be present wherever Makuvi will be. He accused Makuvi of wasting his time and money and urged his relatives not to touch his body when he dies. He said that his burial arrangements should be done by his former lover’s family.
The Mirror is told that Makwite got angry when Makuvi who has since found a job at Marovanyati Dam told him that she has since found a new lover and moved on.
Makuvi went to the extent of getting a protection order against the deceased.
Makuvi left the suicidal note with Tecla Mudoti, a relative.
The suicidal note reads, “Ini ndafa nepamusana paChipo Makuvi uyo akandipedzera nguva yangu. Ndakamupa mari yangu yakawanda nhasi haachada nezvangu avekupfimbwa nevamwe varume. Hama dzangu musandibate kana ndafa asi vekwaMakuvi ngavapedze voga. Chipo Makuvi ndichapedzerana naye ndoga pose paanenge ari ndichange ndiripo. Ndichamufudza kusvika zvanaka.”
The deceased was married and had an extra-marital relationship with Makuvi. The deceased spent more of his time with Makuvi than his wife, said sources who spoke to The Mirror.
When he committed suicide he had been reported to the Police for continuing to visit Makuvi despite a protection order from the courts.
Before hanging himself on that fateful day, the now deceased visited his relative Mudoti who resides at Gamanya village and told her that he was going to hang himself with a rope that he had in his pocket. He actually showed Mudoti the rope.
