    $30 000 Mandava carpentry workshop gutted down by fire

    ZVISHAVANE - Woodwork Entrepreneurs, a carpentry workshop in Mandava, Zvishavane was on Monday gutted by fire resulting in a loss of furniture worth over $30 000.
    The fire is said to have started around 230am and the actual cause of the fire is not known.
    Simon Murombedzi son to the owner of the premises told The Mirror he saw huge flames covering the whole place in the wee hours of the night.
    “I woke up and informed workmates then I contacted the Fire Brigade to come and extinguish the fire. I applaud the fire and rescue team for their quick response. Fortunately there were no injuries or causalities,” said Murombedzi.
    One of the workshop owners Thulani Ncube told The Mirror that he was shocked when he received a call from Murombedzi informing him about the fire.
     “I appeal to well-wishers to help with  donations in the form of shades or any other materials that can help us to continue with our operations,” said Ncube.
    Zvishavane District Chief fire officer Rerai Muchara confirmed the incident and said that there were no causalities or injuries. He also said that they managed to put out the fire before it spread to other workshops.
