    Nyajena boy hangs after being asked to stop smoking mbanje


    MASVINGO RURAL - Tinashe Nhamo, a 16 year-old boy from Nhamo Village under Chief Nyajena hung himself recently after his employer threatened to fire him for smoking mbanje.
    Nhamo who was employed as a herdboy by Joseph Manyewe (62) of Changa Village under Chief Nyajena committed suicide on Sunday. His employer had also accused him of coming home late.
    The incident happened on August 20, 2018 and the body was found hangling from a tree branch 50 meters from the homestead the following day.
    Masvingo Police acting Spokesperson Kudakwashe Dhewa said he had not received the matter by the time of going to Press.
    On the day in question, the two were drinking beer at Changa Village when Manyewe threatened to fire Nhamo if he continued smoking mbanje and coming home late.
    This did not go well with the now deceased who retired to his room and was not seen for the remainder of the day.
    The next day Manyewe looked for the deceased in his room but did not find him. He then left for National Social Security Authority (NSSA) offices in Masvingo to process his pension documents.
    Rumbidzai Manyewe (58), wife to Manyewe spotted Nhamo's body hanging from a tree about 50 meters from the homestead as she was sweeping the yard.
    She alerted Police who attended the scene and carried the body to Renco Mine Clinic Mortuary. Police examined the body and ruled out foul play.crime news
