    Naiboth Magwizi

MASVINGO-Veteran football administrator Nabioth Magwizi has been elected chairman of the ZIFA Masvingo Province unopposed after nominations were closed on August 6 with only his name on the nomination forms.
"All the six posts were not contested, there are three new faces in the board and the board will be confirmed by the electoral committee from Harare on September 1," said Magwizi.
The board will be responsible for running the Division 2 League in Masvingo which has got a total of 18 teams which feed into the ZIFA Eastern Region Division 1 League and this is part of the election road map which culminates in the election of new ZIFA board in December on a date to be announced.
Magwizi was first elected into the provincial football hot seat in 2016 replacing Wellington Muchemwa.
The six member board comprises of Energy Zava who once sponsored the now defunct Chiredzi Utd as vice chairman, Tinos Chivas fixtures secretary, James Macheka board member development while Collins Munemo and Tinashe Hatidanani were elected committee members unopposed as well.
Those who did not seek re-election were, Festus Dumbu who was the secretary, Absolom Mukono, treasurer and Robson Kurwa vice chairman.
Nomination forms were sold for $100 and further $700 was needed for one to vie for the post of chairman and another $100 for those seeking other offices Chivasa told The Mirror.
Nabioth Magwizi was once the chairman of defunct Gutu Leopards and among his notable achievements during his tenure is the kit sponsorship deal they clinched with Leenomy Investments worth $2000 for the 18 teams in the league.

"Proper football structures need to be introduced from grassroots level. Information technology is now a necessity to all our clubs as it helps in the online proper registration and ownership of players thereby eliminating disputes.

"We need to strongly market the game and make it competitive in order to attract sponsorship for cup games for all age groups because lack of sponsorship is a major impediment in the development of football in the province," said the soft spoken administrator.

ZIFA Easter Region Divison 1 board elections will be held on September 14, 2018. Davison Muchena is the current chairman of the board.
Meanwhile, Triangle FC chairman Lovemore Matikinyidze will be battling for the Premier Soccer League chairmanship against Caps United owner Farai Jere.
Elections for the PSL top spot are slated for 9 September in Harare.
When contacted for a comment, Matikinyidze declined to divulge his election strategy saying as for now he is not ready to discuss the issue with the media.
