    Headman Tshikwelengwe of Beitbridge installed

    Azwiambiwi Ndou being nstalled headman Tshikwelengwe of Tshikwelengwe.


    BEITBRIDGE - Azwiambiwi Ndou has been installed headman Tshikwelengwe of Tshikwelengwe under Chief Matibe in Beitbridge.
    He was installed at a colorful ceremony held in Ward 2 in Beitbridge East on Friday. Chief Matibe was the guest of honour. 
    Chief Matibe urged his subjects to be involved in development activities during a speech he delivered at the ceremony.
    Beitbridge District Administrator Kiliboni Ndou urged headmen to work closely with Government agencies, local authorities and non-governmental organizations involved in developmental activities.
    The Tshikwelengwe headmanship was started by Makhado and then followed by Munkunteli Ben who was appointed substantive headman in May 1956 after the death of Makhado.
    The later reigned until his death in 1965.
    After Munkunteli's death, the headmanship was vacant and Chenjerani, Mahkado's eldest son took over the headmanship and was appointed as substantive headman in the same year and reigned for 45 years up to his death in 2010.
    The headmanship remained vacant for the past eight years until the appointment of Azwiambiwi on August 10, 2018. 
    The Tshikwelengwe headmanship belongs to the Venda tribe.
    Headman Tshikwelengwe has 18 substantive village heads under him.
    "I would like the new headman to work closely with his village heads and the chief to spearhead developmental activities," said Ndou.
