Chikomba school drags 28 parents to court over fees

CHIKOMBA – The School Development Committee (SDC) at Mashayamvura Primary School has dragged 28 parents to court in a bid to recover $8 000 owed in school fees.
However, magistrates sitting at Chivhu dismissed the case because the SDC chairman Onwell Pondiwa could not produce a letter from the school confirming him as a representative of parents.
Some parents had not paid fees for eight successive terms.
Magistrates Ngoni Nduna, Winifilda Tiyatara, Henry Sande and Felix Chauromwe heard the case.
The court however advised the school to apply for a recession of the cases.
Mashayamvura school fees is pegged at $15 per term. The school has an enrolment of 270 pupils.
