Anglican Church to hold diocese choir competitions

MASVINGO – The Anglican Church will hold music competitions for its five dioceses in Zimbabwe at the Charles Austin Theatre in Masvingo on Saturday.
The chairman of the Music Council of Masvingo Diocese, Shadreck Laurence Maguranye confirmed the event to The Mirror.
The five dioceses are Masvingo, Central Zimbabwe, Matebeleland, Harare and Manicaland.
The competitions are done annually and last year they were held in Manicaland where Central Zimbabwe dioceses won.
"Each diocese comes up with one choir which will have all ages. The aim of the competitions is to improve the standard of music in the Anglican Church where members will be learning from each other. We encourage people to come in numbers", said Maguranye.
The competitors will get trophies and money prizes.
" We are encouraging well-wishers to help us because our wish is to give every diocese consolation prizes for participating but we are limited due to economic hardships", added Maguranye.
The bishop for Masvingo diocese Godfrey Taonezvi will give the opening devotion.
