Zimsec withholds Dadaya High O level results

ZVISHAVANE –Parents of students who sat for O level examinations at Dayadaya High School in Zvishavane in November last year have resolved to take the Zimbabwe Schools Examinations Council (Zimsec) to court in order to force the release of results withheld on allegations of cheating.
The Mirror is told that there are 57 pupils out of 127 who are affected.
Dadaya Schools Development Committee (SDC) chairperson Leopold Mudisi confirmed the case and said parents resolved to take the matter to court. He said he will be representing the parents as the SDC chairperson.
Zimsec spokesperson Nicky Dhlamini said the affected students will have to sit for the examinations again because the results are not going to be released.
Dayadaya School head Tamirira Nyasha Shumba said she is not in a position to comment and referred The Mirror to his lawyer Leopold Mudisi who said he doesn't have the details.
"It is true that some results have been withheld and parents have approached me to represent them in court against Zimsec. As of the finer details, I am still to be furnished", said Mudisi.
The sources complained that there were children of Dayadaya staff members in the stream whose results were docked but none of them was affected.
"It is suspected that one of the students (name withheld) leaked the papers to students and some got results while others were withheld. We don't have results but some have them.
"All some teaching staff members had their children in that stream, there is none who is affected and this has worried parents a lot. Some of the teachers' children are already doing A Levels while the affected pupils have been advised to re-sit in June", said a source.news
