The Mirror is the country’s best weekly for local news –Zamps

HARARE – The Mirror which went regional in June 2016 is now Zimbabwe's most preferred weekly newspaper in terms of local news content, the latest Zimbabwe All Media Products Survey report has said.
The survey conducted by the Zimbabwe Advertising Research Foundation (ZARF) and released to a media gathering on February 20 shows that The Mirror dominates all weeklies in Zimbabwe in terms of local news content preference.
Some 97% of the people conducted in the survey said they read The Mirror in the first half of 2017 for its rich local news. The figure however, slightly dropped to 95% in the second half of the year.
Despite the drop in the second half, The Mirror remains way ahead of the second placed Standard and Zimbabwe Independent where 75% of the readers prefer the papers for local news.
The Sunday Mail which is the most widely read weekly in the country according to the Zamps report has fewer readers buying it for local news as only 32% preferred it for that category in the first half of last year and 46% in the second half.
The Mirror also maintained its position as the country's most widely read private weekly newspaper, according to the report.
Mirror consultant Matthew Takaona said his team will continue to work on new strategies to make sure that the paper gives the best value for money to its readers.news
