    Nyoni to launch Beitbridge mopani worms factory

    Worms to be processed for export markets


    BEITBRIDGE – A factory that will export processed mopane worms to several countries in the region including South Africa, DRC and Zambia will be constructed in Beitbridge after a ground breaking ceremony to be conducted by the Minister of Women Affairs, Gender and Community Development.
    This was confirmed by the Ministry's district development officer Siduli Vusimuzi during an Independence Day preparatory meeting held at DA's boardroom on Tuesday.
    Minister Nyoni will officiate at the groundbreaking ceremony of the factory on April 20 2018. The factory will be run by Rovhona Raita Cooperative and it will be located at Matshiloni Business Centre in ward 4.
    Construction of the factory will commence soon after the ground breaking ceremony.
    The Rovhona Raita cooperative has a membership of 106 people who are currently operating from their homes and the establishment of a factory will see them working together.
    Fencing of the 60 m x 50 metres factory has been done, borehole have been drilled and there is a budget for solar driers.
    Vusumuzi said that there will be exhibitions on the day from service providers including health organisations involved in HIV and cervical cancer work.
