Parul University's head of International student Association Cell Professor Dhaval Gaud and Ambassador for International students Petros Kanyama are in the country where they are offering partial scholarships to Zimbabwean students who want to pursue their tertiary education with the prestigious Indian based institution.
This is the second trip of this kind after, co-student Ambassador Walter Mabvumba made another similar trip last in November. Speaking in an interview Professor Dhaval said the duo will travel to Gweru, Bulawayo, Masvingo and Mutare offering scholarships whilst those in Harare can visit Parul university local office at Construction House in Harare.
Prof Dhaval said although the scholarships benefit all excelling students, their main thrust is to assist mainly those in rural schools and the underprivileged.
"The scholarships will be given on a first come basis but our target is the rural folks, marginalized and down-trodden students because we feel they have what it takes to be like others in towns, so we want to unleash the greatness in them. Background doesn't matter. What really matters is what you have in the brain," said Kanyama.
Parul University is the first university in Gujarat state to have more than 2000 international students from 49 different nations. About three hundred students are from Zimbabwe, the bulk having joined through the scholarship programme.
Kanyama who has written a book entitled "Just a thought" said the experience he and his Zimbabwean counterparts received at Parul University leads them to ask the institution authorities to grant them permission to offer scholarships of paying at least half or three quarters to beneficiaries.

"Parul is one of the best universities in the world and being appointed as ambassadors we remembered our countrymen that they can benefit from the good education we are receiving," said Kanyama.
The university was awarded the best private university in western India in 2017 by Praxis Media International. It is also the first university in Asia to be accredited in Zimbabwe by Zimbabwe Council of Higher Education (ZIMCHE).
It has the best hands-on training as 75 percent of the studies are  practical and 25% theory while it  has the best Engineering, Medicine and Law faculties in India.
Parul University has separate hostels for foreign national students with ultra-modern amenities like 4g WiFi, sports, gymnasium, hospital, mess and canteen with all diets.
Kanyama said those interested in Gweru can meet with them on Wednesday 30-31, Bulawayo 01-02 February, Zvishavane/Masvingo 3-4 and Mutare on 5-6 February.
