    Gweru City’s $38m budget approved

GWERU – The Minister of Local Government and Public works, July Moyo has approved a $38m budget for Gweru City Council for 2018.
The reduced budget from 2017's $41 million runs from January to December 2018.
However, the budget was approved on condition that the local authority complies with the Government stipulated wage to service delivery ratio of 30:70. The approval letter required that Gweru City Council present a road map on the resolution of the ratio issue.
City Mayor Charles Chikozho confirmed the approval of the budget during the first full council meeting for 2018. He insisted on the expenditure compliance directed by Government.
"The budget has been approved but the Ministry is concerned by our failure to comply with the 30:70 salary to service delivery ratio," said Chikozho
Council also need to improve on debt collection which is currently below 50%. The Ministry also expressed concern over audit reports.
