Dr Mavetera in tight corner as MDC T candidates fight in Gutu

GUTU – The final picture of Parliamentary candidates to participate in the MDC T primaries for the five Gutu constituencies is emerging with just one constituency where a candidate will stand unopposed.
Lawyer Erium Musendekwa is the only MDC T Parliamentary candidate who is going into the elections uncontested. Reports indicate that he is the most popular of the MDC T candidates in Gutu.
In Gutu North, medical doctor Tichinani Mavetera is in a tight contest against Andrea Manyere who is a Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions president and Mawire, a former Policeman. Although there is no clear winner, odds seem to be against Dr Mavetera who party members openly resisted during a meeting held at Zvavahera.
The Mirror understands that the Gutu West seat had been offered to People First under the Alliance arrangement but the party could not raise a candidate and MDC T will now field Stan Manguma, a provincial executive member and Philip Boora Manyanye a member of the Zimbabwe Council of Social Workers.
In Gutu Central prominent businessman and former social welfare worker Chris Musoni will battle it out with Lloyd Mupfudze, a former student leader and Fredrick Ebert Stiftung youth leadership graduate and Getrude Dhobha a former ward 11 councillor.Musoni is a veteran MDC T who has in past elections given Zanu PF sleepless nights while Mufudze is the current youth secretary.
In Gutu East the candidates are Godfrey Madzikanda a retired Policeman and Pious Rutave.local news
