    Bolamba to hold culture week launch


    GWANDA - Bulomba area under Chief Mathe in ward 12 will hold its culture week launch on February 21 2018.
    This will be a fundraising activity to finish building the culture center located at Bolamba area which is being put together in preparation of the culture week billed for May this year.
    Gwanda District Adminstrator, Judge Dube said in an interview with The Mirror that this was a community initiative. The community mobilised resources for building the culture center which consists of round culture huts and corner culture huts.
    The Arts, Culture and Heritage officer for Gwanda District, Promise Dube said there were shortages of funds to finish the culture center and he appealed to the public for assistance.
    "The culture center is now at an advanced stage however we are facing problems as the community's coffers have run dry. The fundraising is aimed at helping this community to raise funds to finish the culture center. The centre must be finished by March 25 ahead of the Provincial culture week which will be hosted by Chief Mate in the fourth week of May.
    "On the fundraising day local traditional dance groups and poets including the Nqindi Ndlovu and Bolamba Perfoming Arts will perform," said Dube.
    He said the center will help in the preservation of cultural values and sharing of cultural diversities as the province is made up of different tribes like VaVenda ,VaSotho, Kalanga and Ndebeles among others. He also said the culture center will be a heritage site for the future generations.
