MASVINGO – Some 45 teams comprising twoauditors each have descended on Masvingo Province where they are expected to look into books of accounts in 1 300 schools within the next two weeks.
Masvingo Provincial Education Director, Zedius Chitiga confirmed the development and said that the auditors started audits in Masvingo schools this
    Monday.
The groups are expected to do one school each per day or 45 schools per day. Their itinerary is intended to ensure that all schools that have not been audited since 2012 will this time be audited.
The team of auditors is coming to Masvingo from Mash Central where they spent three weeks visiting schools there.
Sources told The Mirror that there are chances that these teams will be beefed up by auditors from other ministries like Defence and Higher Education.
The Mirror also understands that the audit programme is among the projects that Government is looking at completing within President Mnangagwa's 100 day plan.
Chitiga said some schools have not been audited for a long time.
"Audit gives assurance to the operation of an institution, so a lot of schools have to be audited because a lot of schools missed audit recently," said Chitiga. education news
