    Zvishavane woman murdered for 25c

ZVISHAVANE – A 29-year-old woman from Zvishavane was last week stabbed to death after she refused to surrender her 25-cent bond coin and two 500ml bottled water to a suspected thief.
The deceased Varaidzo Sibanda of Kufa village under Chief Masunda was walking along a footpath on her way home from Highlands Suburbs when she came across two suspected thieves; Wellington Maposa (25) and Hosea Vengesai (33) who were hiding in a bush with the intention of robbing people.
Maposa and Vengesai produced a homemade knife and ordered Sibanda to surrender her belongings. She allegedly told the two that she only had 2 cents and ice cold bottled water but refused to hand it over.
The accused then stabbed Sibanda once on the left side of her breast and several times on her left arm before they took the 25cents, water, and her clothes and ran away, leaving the deceased lying in a pool of blood on the ground.
Sibanda was ferried to hospital by her husband but died due to injuries sustained.
Zvishavane Magistrate Shepherd Munjanja remanded the duo to December 14.
    Stanly Ncube prosecuted.
