Mberengwa RDC to tar 3km at Mataga

MATAGA – Mberengwa Rural District Council (RDC) is constructing 3km of tarred road at Mataga Growth Point at a cost of $25 000.
The project began during the first week of November and was expected to take a fortnight to complete.
Mberengwa RDC Chief Executive Officer Julius Mashavakure confirmed the development and said Council was in addition to the tarred roads project rehabilitating two bridges along Ngungumbane-Mataga Road that were destroyed by cyclone Denio early this.
He said the problem of inaccessibility caused by the destroyed bridges has resulted in reduced business for Mataga.
"One of the key objectives of this project is to restore business at Mataga Growth Point. Clients and investors alike are shunning the growth point because of bad roads and the destruction of the Mutorahuku Bridge which is 500 meters from the growth point," said Mashavakure.
Mashavakure said council is also refurbishing other dust roads across the district ahead of the rain season.
