Zimrights, ERC to host BVR road show in Masvingo

MASVINGO - The Zimbabwe Human Rights Association (Zimrights) in conjunction with the Elections Resource Centre (ERC) will host the #10x10 and #RegisterElectEngage Roadshow in Masvingo CBD tomorrow (Friday).
The roadshow will see artists and dance groups entertaining residents as a way of encouraging them to register to vote under the Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) system that compels all those who intend to vote next year to re-register even if they were registered in 2013, said Zimrights and ERC in a joint statement released on Tuesday.
"In response to the need to educate the Zimbabwean public on the BVR process and encourage citizens to register as voters, Zimrights launched the #10x10 campaign in September. The #10x10 campaign encourages each person to mobilise 10 others to register as voters.
"The ERC also launched the #RegisterElecetEngage Campaign to urge all Zimbabweans to participate in the electoral cycle," reads part of the statement.
During the roadshow Zimbabwe Electoral Commission voter educators and commissioners of oaths will also be available for those who may want proof of residence to register to vote.
People will also have an opportunity to win various regalia from ERC and Zimrights after answering some questions on BVR during the roadshow.
