    Runde sub-catchments AGM dates set


    MASVINGO - Runde Catchment Council has notified its five sub catchment Councils of the individual dates on which they will hold this year's elective Annual General Meetings (AGM).
    The sub - catchment councils are Mutirikwi, Chiredzi, Lower Runde, Tokwe and Upper Runde and their mandate is to ensure equitable distribution of water between upstream and downstream users among other functions.
    In a notice published in the media, the AGMs are going to take place as follows; Mutirikwi Sub Catchment, November 11 2017; Chiredzi Sub Catchment November 28 2017; Lower Runde November 29 2017; Tokwe November 30 2017; Upper Runde December, 1 2017 and Runde Catchment December 4 2017.
    Catchment manager, Stanley Nazombe told The Mirror that the AGMs' agenda is to replace a third of the councillors who were running the sub catchments for the past 3 years as their terms of office have lapsed.
    Every individual stakeholder group will be electing a member to represent them.
    Stakeholder groups include urban authorities, rural district councils, large scale farmers, small scale farmers, communal farmers, resettled farmers, industry, large scale miners, small scale miners and any other groups as identified by the Sub Catchment Council.
    "The main agenda is to replace councillors who were running sub catchment business, every individual stakeholder group should elect one member to represent them," said Nazombe.
    The chairman will also present the 2017 reports and the highlights of the year will be discussed and plans for 2018 will be made.
    Stakeholder representatives are being asked to bring fully signed nomination forms from their respective stakeholder groups.
