Mugabe appoints Mujuru loyalists to run Masvingo

    •  Gamatox MPs take over province, snatch strategic positions

MASVINGO – President Mugabe is now moving round in circles and is taking the shortest possible time to get back to square one.
It is only three years ago in 2014 that Mugabe set out to decimate the then very strong Joice Mujuru faction in Zanu PF going by the name Gamatox. Mugabe fired its leaders both from party and Government while MPs were stripped of any positions in the party.
Three years on, today the same MPs are back in charge of both the Government and the party.
Dr Paul Chimedza who was fired from the position of Deputy Minister of Health because of his links with Mujuru now holds the most powerful position in Masvingo as the Minister of State for the Province.
Muzembi who was also associated with Mujuru camp is now the country's Minister of Foreign Affairs and his G40 faction touts him as the new godfather of Masvingo.
The Mujuru Camp which on Monday held a welcome party for Chimedza as the new Minister of State made a unilateral declaration to dissolve the provincial executive led by Ezra Chadzamira who is Lacoste and a Mnangagwa loyalist. The Mujuru camp then went on to announce new leaders and the majority who got top positions are Gamatox members.
In addition to the Minister of State, Chimedza was made Zanu PF vice chairman for Masvingo. Denford Masiya and Ephraim Gwanongodza who were known Mujuru loyalists were appointed to provincial secretary for administration and secretary for finance respectively. The then touted Mujuru foot soldiers Darlington Chiwa and Tranos Huruva were appointed provincial spokesperson and secretary for production and labour respectively while other known Mujuru loyalists Tongai Muzenda and Ticharwa Madondo were appointed secretary for welfare of the disabled and secretary for economic affairs respectively.
Muzenda was actually fired by Mugabe as the Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Welfare because of his Mujuru links.
Jaboon also stripped Killer Zivhu of his position as the provincial secretary for finance and replaced him with Gwanongodza. Zivhu was relegated to the position of deputy secretary in the same portfolio.
Zanu PF has seen eight different chairpersons since 2014 when former provincial chairman Retired Brigadier General Kallisto Gwanetsa was fired. None except Gwanetsa was elected at a congress.
