BIKITA – Three Jeppy Jaboon allies have been reported to the Police at Nyika Growth Point for allegedly assaulting and injuring Tichaona Mandebvu (30) after accusing him of being a loyalist of Mnangagwa who had just been fired as Vice President two weeks ago.
The incident happened at an inter-district meeting held at Bikita Rural District Council offices on November 12, 2017 where Pamushana School head, Johnson Madhuku was elected into the Zanu PF Central Committee.
The accused are Jaboon's driver and allies, Pearson Makaraya, Gigo Rukuruva and Zanu PF provincial youth chairman Nobert Ndaarombe.
Mandebvu who is also the Zanu PF provincial youth secretary for science and technology arrived for the inter district meeting but was ordered out by the three.
"I was beaten up by Gigo, Pearson Ndaarombe and others that I could not identify after I challenged them on my suspension from the party without any notification or going through the disciplinary procedures. They beat me up with clenched fists and open hands and in the process I lost my two phones as well as $500 which was for buying a beast for my butchery. I was taken to Silveira Hospital where I received treatment for the injuries I sustained during the attack," said Mandebvu in a telephone interview with The Mirror.
The matter was reported at Nyika Growth Point and referred to Law and Order Section in Masvingo under case number CR 4041/11/17.
MasvingoProvince Police spokesperson Inspector Charity Mazula said  she has no capacity to comment on such cases.
Efforts to get a comment from Jaboon and Ndaarombe were unsuccessful as their phones were off.
