    Chikomba RDC proposes $3m budget


    CHIKOMBA - Chikomba RDC has after consultations with all its stakeholders tabled a $ 3 075 573 draft budget for 2018. This is a jump of 25% from the 2017 budget which stood at $2 451, 845.
    The budget was presented by the finance committee chairman, councillor Israel Dhikinya at a full council meeting two weeks ago. It was expected that the final draft would be forwarded to the Provincial office last week for onward submission to the Ministry.
    Dhikinya later told The Mirror in an interview that the budget increase was due to the introduction of a standalone technical department at Sadza offices, growth of business centres at Masasa, Nharira and Featherstone. These business centres are coming with housing developments.
    Council also seeks to establish a new town, acquaponic project, a bus terminus and housing developments that will take place in Chivhu town.
    Dhikinya said the budget performance for this year was good.
    Employee costs budgeted for this year was $586, 221, actual expenditure is $461, 576 and estimated figure for 2018 is $515, 614.
    General expenses for this year stood at $431, 167 and an estimate $659, 714 is expected to be spent next year.
    Capital expenses for this year stood at $239, 633 and for next year it is estimated at $1, 239, 200.
    Total income budgeted for this year was $2 451, 845 and actual to date stands at $1, 391, 376 and an estimate $3, 075, 573 for 2018.
