HARARE - Chivi Rural District Council chairman and president of Association of Rural District Councils in Zimbabwe, Killer Zivhu is the new president of the Zimbabwe Local Government Association (ZILGA).
Zivhu assumed the post at the organisation's 4th congress held at Rainbow Towers in Harare on Wednesday (yesterday) where all the 92 local authorities were represented.
ZILGA was formed in 2006 to ensure that local authorities speak with one voice and the presidency of the association is held on rotational basis between rural and urban councils.
Zivhu's term of office ends in 2019.
He will be deputised by Harare Mayor Benard Manyenyeni while Bulawayo Mayor is the immediate past president.
"During my term of office the first thing that I will do is to facilitate a meeting with the President in order for us to give him our grievances, I want to ensure that rural and urban authorities in the country engage in twinning for example Gweru and Chivi, we will lobby Government to give us back disc licensing which was one of our cash cows and the land levy," said Zivhu. business news

    1. During my term of office the first thing that I will do is to facilitate a meeting with the President in order for us to give him our grievances,

The President is represented by the Minister of Local government, rural development and national housing and this association must talk to him not the President.
