CHIKOMBA- Hundreds of youths from Chikomba West Constituency's Seke district converged at Ringa Primary School for the annual Youth Sports games convened by the local MP Dr Mike Bimha.
The host Ward 19 walked away with their heads high as they scooped all that was before them, the soccer and netball trophies.
In the netball finals they beat Ward 20B and in the soccer final they brushed aside stubborn Ward 15 by a solitary goal.
Four matches were played on the day, following district playoffs that began earlier in the year. In football, Ward 17 beat Ward 20A to claim third spot, a result mirrored in the netball as well when Ward 17 ladies overcame their Ward 20A.
The games got off to an exciting start with the semi finals taking place at two separate pitches at Ringa primary and secondary schools.
Addressing the gathering when he presented prizes to the winners, Dr Bimha said the games were a way of bringing people together as well as to encourage exercise and healthy lifestyles. He commended players and spectators for conducting themselves in a peaceful and orderly manner.
The Seke Youth Sports Games were sponsored by Pacific Cigarette Company, a longstanding partner of Chikomba West Constituency. They also provided music that helped to liven the atmosphere, as non-players  - including some mothers and district youth were kept on their feet showcasing their dancing skills.
Among the guests were Senator Murwira, councillors and officials representing both Manyame and Chikomba Rural District Councils, Mashonaland East ZANU-PF provincial leadership, heads of Government departments, executives of Pacific Cigarette Company and the Chairman of Chikomba West Constituency Development Association, Lance Jena.
