    Gweru Provincial Hospital clerk in court for theft


    GWERU – A Gweru Provincial Hospital accounts clerk who allegedly under-receipted $100 paid by a patient and wrote the correct amount on the receipt but $1 on the carbon copy has appeared at the Gweru Magistrates Court facing theft charges.
    Gugulethu Makubalo (32) appeared before Magistrate Mildred Matuvi facing theft charges for under-receipting.
    The duties of Makubulo who stays in Mkoba 14 include receipting hospital fees, raising invoices for patients without cash, admission of patients and discharging patients during weekends.
    It is the State case that on March 08, 2017, the Medical Superintendent Fabioni Jebeniasi Mashingaidze received information that the accused was under-receipting money from clients.  
    Complainant noted that a payment of $100 was paid by a client as deposit fees on February 28, 2017 under receipt number 238832HH. However, only $1 was entered on the carbon copy. Makubulo allegedly gave the client a receipt with the correct amount.
    A report was made to the Police leading to the arrest of the accused person.
    A top copy which was receipted $100 together with a carbon copy receipted $1 were used in court as exhibits.
