2 Gutu students jailed for murder as Zimsec exams start

GUTU – Two 'O' Level students at Guni High under Chief Makore in Gutu including the school headboy have missed a number of their Zimsec examination papers after they were incarcerated at Gutu Prison on Monday on allegations of murder.
The students who cannot be named because they are both believed to be around 17 years of age are accused of forcing Daylon Kwangwari (7) into a pool along Matope River in Magombedze Village where he drowned and died.
The incident happened on Friday last week and Gutu Magistrate Edwin Marecha remanded the two in custody to November 6, 2017. This means that the two boys are going to miss on a number of other examination papers or they may eventually not write at all.
It is the State case that the headboy, his friend and some girls were reading from a bush near the river when primary school children including Kwangwari came along. The State alleges that Kwangwari did not have a shirt on as he read and the little boys started jeering at him and his friend saying that they were up to some mischief with the girls.
This irritated the accused who allegedly used a switch to beat up the little boys. The accused then forced two boys into a pool but one of them escaped and ran back to school and reported to his teacher.
A Primary school teacher who responded to the report found Kwangwari dead when he arrived, said the State.
