MWENEZI –Newly formed Ward 28 social outfit Tokwe Mukorsi FC were crowned champions of the tightly contested Zizhou inaugural eight team soccer tournament held at Ngundu High School in headman Maguvire area under Chief Shindi on Tuesday last week.
Tokwe Mukorsi beat Ward 25 the hosts 4-2 in a penalty shootout of the tournament which was sponsored to the tune of $1500 by prominent local businessman, Munyaradzi Zizhou from Tawanda Village under Chief Shindi.
Zizhou said the tournament is meant to identify talent which is abundant in the rural areas as well as provide entertainment.
"This is just another way of giving back to the community that supports me in business at the same time identifying talent. We will make this an annual event and next year we promise to bring national team junior coaches and agents who scout for players so that our players will also have an opportunity to shine at the highest level in the country," said the soft spoken Zizhou. 
The winners walked away with a floating trophy, medals and $250 cash prize with the runners up getting $100 and medals.
The other teams that participated in the tournament were Mwenezi Ward 1 which is under Chivi South Constituency, wards 22, 23, 26, 27 and 31 is under councillor Killer Zivhu, who is Chivi RDC chairman. Headman Madzivire and Ward 25 councillor, Tinago Zivai were guests at the event.
Ward 21 team won the third place and received $50 while all teams that participated got some prize money depending with their performance.
 "I am happy with the social responsibility role that has been taken by Zizhou. This is a good programme for the youth and the community as a whole since it unites us as a family and we pray that it will go a long way in nurturing talent," said Zivai. 
The coordinator of the event Andrew Chikanga described the event as a huge success.
