BIKITA – In what is probably the first by a top Zimbabwean soldier, Retired Major General Mashingaidze (65) is the new chief Mukanganwi of Bikita following recommendations sent to Government by Masvingo Provincial Assembly of Chiefs.
There is no decorated soldier or commander of the armed struggle of his rank who is known to have become a traditional chief.
An ecstatic Mashingaidze confirmed the development and said he will no more look for elected political posts.
