    NPP dominates Zimrights inter-party peace sport gala

    MASVINGO- National People's Party (NPP) swept all before it at the inter-party peace sport gala held at Mucheke Stadium which was organized by Zimrights Masvingo region recently.
    The Joice Mujuru led party won 4-3 on penalties against People's Democratic Party led by Tendai Biti and walloped Zanu PF 15-2 in the netball tournament.
    The tournament was organized with the main objective of promoting peace and reducing violence across different political parties ahead of 2018 elections and the other teams were from MDC and a community based team comprising of different people from different organizations.
    The Zimrights regional coordinator Thomas Mbetu said, "This sport gala was organized for the youths to reduce political violence between the political parties and to create peace between them for the upcoming 2018 elections."
    Speaking to The Mirror, Trust Muganji, the NPP Masvingo provincial youth chairman said that this tournament was intended to create friendship amongst the parties so that they will not engage in political violence during elections.
    On the same occasion, Arnold Batirai, the national youth  president for PDP said, the act was to show people that different political parties can work together peacefully without skirmishes.
    MDC-T Masvingo Urban Ward 4 councilor Godwin Kurauone also weighed in and said, "The way people play soccer (peacefully) is the way we should do our politics."
