    MIRROR REPORTER

MASVINGO – The urgent need for Government to dualise Harare – Beitbridge Highway was underscored once again on Saturday afternoon when tragedy struck and Masvingo High Court Judge, Justice Mawadze lost his wife, sister-in-law and driver in one swoop.
Justice Mawadze's wife Locadia (nee Matenhere) who was the deputy head at Lord Malvern High in Harare, her sister-in-law Shamiso Matenhere, a teacher at Zimre Park Primary School in Harare and the driver Threetimes Mudziviri died in a horrific accident about 10km from Mvuma as they drove from Gutu towards the Mawadze  family farm which is 10km after Mvuma towards Harare.
Mawadze and Matenhere were thrown out of the car.
A shattered Justice Mawadze confirmed the tragedy in a telephone interview with The Mirror.
It is understood that the accident happened at around 12.45pm when Mudziviri overtook a haulage truck but lost control of the Isuzu Twin Cab immediately on returning to his lane. The vehicle flew off the road to the left and ploughed through the fields.
Mawadze was the first to be thrown out of the car followed by her sister-in-law and they both died on the spot. Mudziviri was found dead in the car.
The three drove from Harare the same morning and went to Majada Village near Mukaro Mission in Gutu where Mawadze and her sister-in-law laid wreaths on the graves of  Mrs Mawadze's late parents and brother.
After laying the wreaths, Mawadze spoke to her husband who is based in Masvingo on the phone at 930am and they planned to meet at their farm just outside Chivhu that afternoon. Mawadze and her company then drove from Gutu through Chatsworth and met their fate when the driver appeared to have seen an oncoming car while overtaking the haulage truck.
He is said to have successfully overtaken but lost control soon after and veered off the road to the left.
Justice Mawadze who was the last person on his wfe's dialled numbers was called by the Police as he was driving.
Giving testimony at the burial, Zimre Park Primary school head Angeline Murerwa said the late Matenhere disembarked from a car on Thursday last week while on her way to school complaining that it was overspeeding at 160km/h. However she died two days later in an accident.
Matenhere was married to Martin, a former Mukaro High School teacher.
Matenhere and Mudziviri were both buried on Tuesday at Matenhere Village in Musana and Majada Village in Gutu respectively. Mawadze was buried at the family farm at 259 Central Estate Mvuma.
Hundreds of people attended Mawadze's funeral including the Judge President George Chiweshe, Bishop Michael  Bhasera and Chief Fortune Charumbira .
A teacher and two children from Lord Malvern gave touching testimonies.
Mawadze was born in Gutu in 1966 and went to Mukaro Mission for her primary and secondary education. She did her A Levels at Gutu High School and completed her BA Honours Degree from UZ in 1988. She worked at several schools as a teacher namely Mutambara High in Manicaland, Masvingo Christian, Chiredzi Christian, Mkoba 3 Secondary, Acting head Maboleni High in Lower Gweru, Senga Secondary in Gweru and was substantive deputy head at Lord Malvern High at the time of her death.
